Much like Apple, Google also has a tradition of introducing a new software upgrade in the Android line-up. Last year it introduced the Oreo and this year it is the Android P which again is a major upgrade bringing many new features to the table. While some are underneath in the form of API, the rest are visual changes. In fact, before the final version rolls out, Google started testing the OS in the form of a developer’s preview; so far it rolled out four developer preview updates, the fourth one being the most stable one as it also brings the much needed dark theme instead of automatic theme which gets adjusted depending on the wallpaper.

Additionally, Google has also added 157 new emoji to the OS with this new update and new fonts as well. In case, if you rock a non-pixel device or scared of using the unstable developer’s preview as a daily driver, you will have to wait for the official rollout of the update which might happen in September, and if you are a non Pixel user, the wait might be even longer. However, we here have a little workaround with us that gives you the taste of the Android P without installing it on your phone. Magisk is a very popular tool that lets you flash mods to give your phone an overhaul in terms of functionality or look and feel.

Thanks to XDA’s Senior Member joeyhuab, there is now a Magisk module that lets you install the 157 new emoji from Android P on any Android device. Follow this tutorial and see how you can do that.

Note: Magisk is a tool that will only run if your phone is rooted and this, in turn, might void your warranty, so proceed at your own risk. Let’s get started.

Here’s how to Install Android P fonts and Emoji’s on any Android-Root

  1. Firstly, you will need an Android Phone that is rooted and once you are rooted, install the Magisk and follow the instructions: Download Magisk
  2. Once you have installed the Magisk module, download the Android P Fonts & Emoji’s Magisk Module which is free of cost: Download the Android P Fonts and Emoji
  3. Now open the Magisk module installed on your phone and tap on the menu button on the side. From there tap on ‘Modules.’
  4. Now, tap on the “+” icon in the bottom of the screen and navigate to the folder where you have downloaded the Magisk module, and select that.
  5. Upon selecting, Magisk will automatically start flashing the Android P Emoji’s and Fonts module on your device.
  6. However, once done, you will have to reboot your phone for the Emoji’s to become activated. Tap on “Reboot” in the bottom-right to reboot your device.
  7. Once rebooted, Android P Emoji’s and fonts will be installed on your phone.

That’s about it with the process of installing Android P fonts and Emoji on any Android Phone that is Rooted. With this method, you will no longer have to wait for the full and final version to start using the Emoji’s. We personally feel that the new Emoji’s set is pretty impressive and the method is also pretty straightforward. So, do flash them and let us know what do you think.
