The tremendous advancement in technology is the most important factor in producing budget smartphones with many features that were mainly available in flagship phones earlier. However, getting flagship features in budget devices can only be achieved by compromising quality. Nowadays, we get notch displays, 4GB RAM, dual rear cameras, gradient color schemes, latest Android OS and much more in budget smartphones but do they offer the performance you deserve? No, you do not.

Today, we are looking at a list of top 10 phones under 10000 that you should not buy. These 10 phones might be the top selling phones in the Indian market right now but we take a close look at them to find their flaws. So without any further ado, lets get started.

#1. Micromax Infinity N12

The Micromax Infinity N12 was launched in India back in December 2018. Let us have a look at some of its flaws below.

  • Service – Micromax is not the same old brand anymore it used to be a couple of years back. So you will be facing after sales service issues in case you break the Micromax Infinity N12. You will not get the parts in time.
  • Camera – The dual rear cameras do not click great pictures and the performance is not up to the mark. The low light performance is also not great. The pictures have a lot of grain.
  • Battery – It does come with a big battery but it will take a lot of time to charge up completely since it does not have fast charging feature. You will need around more than three hours to charge the phone from 0-100.

#2. Mobiistar X1 Notch

Mobiistar X1 Notch, a budget smartphone under 10000, was launched back in January 2019 in India. Check out few of its drawbacks below.

  • Service – First of all, Mobiistar is a new brand and hence they will not provide quality service. So if you break your phone by any chance, you will face a lot of problems in getting it repaired.
  • Performance – The MediaTek processor we get on this phone is low-end and hence the performance is average at best. The smoothness factor is certainly missing.
  • Software – You are getting Android 8.1 Oreo, which is not the latest Android OS from Google. Also, Mobiistar will not update the OS ever. So we will not suggest you to buy this phone priced under Rs. 10000.

#3. Panasonic Eluga Z1

This Panasonic Eluga Z1 smartphone was launched in India way back in October 2018. Check out few of its cons below.

  • Processor – The MediaTek processor it runs on does not give great performance. If you’re a heavy multitasker, you’ll face some lagging here and there. The gaming performance is also not up to the mark.
  • Software – The Android version is quite old now and Panasonic will not update it ever. The UI is also not the smoothest out there and you’ll face some lags in daily usage.
  • Camera – The dual rear cameras look good on paper but they do not perform too well in real life. The pictures are too bland and dull looking. The low light performance is poor. The AI camera features of this phone also look gimmicky.

Key Specs:

Display – 6.19-inch HD+
CPU – MediaTek Helio P22
RAM – 3GB
Storage – 32GB
OS – Android 8.1 Oreo
Rear camera – 13MP and 5MP

#4. Vivo Y91i

The Y91i from the house of Vivo was launched in India back in March 2019. Lets have a look at some of its drawbacks below.

  • Build – It is no doubt a good-looking phone under 10000 but the device is very slippery and hence you might easily damage it. The cost of new display is almost half the price of the phone.
  • Performance – The performance is also not up to the mark as it comes with 2GB RAM. Hence, the multitasking and gaming experience is below average. You’ll face a lot of stuttering in daily usage as well.
  • Software – The Funtouch OS 4.0 is based on Android 8.1 Oreo OS and it is not the best interface out there. The UI feels a bit sluggish and we would prefer a vanilla Android interface anytime. Also, you will not get any major OS update in the future for sure.

Key Specs:

Display – 6.22-inch HD+
CPU – MediaTek Helio P22
RAM – 2GB
Storage – 16/32GB
OS – Funtouch OS 4.0
Rear camera – 13MP
Selfie camera – 8MP
Battery – 4030mAh
Connectivity – Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS

#5. Samsung Galaxy A10

The Galaxy A10, a new budget smartphone from Samsung, was launched in India back in February 2019. It is certainly a good attempt from the brand to rebuild its budget phone segment but it is still not good enough. So lets have a look at some of its cons below.

  • Display – There is no Full HD resolution or AMOLED display. Samsung is known for its AMOLED displays but this phone is missing out on this feature as it comes with an IPS panel. We also miss out on Full HD resolution here.
  • Performance – The processor is low-end and thus the performance of the phone takes a hit. 2GB RAM onboard does not help the cause either. The multitasking and gaming experience does not feel smooth because of the low RAM and processor.
  • Software – It does come with the latest Android OS but also do not expect any major OS update in the future from Samsung. The interface looks modern but it is not the smoothest UI out there.

Key Specs:

Display – 6.2-inch HD+
CPU – Exynos 7884
RAM – 2GB
Storage – 32GB
OS – Android 9.0 Pie
Rear camera – 13MP
Selfie camera – 5MP
Battery – 3400mAh
Connectivity – Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS

#6. Tecno Camon i4

Tecno Mobile is a relatively new brand in the Indian smartphone market. Their latest budget phone, the Tecno Camon i4 was launched in April 2019. Lets have a look at some of its drawbacks below.

  • Performance – It looks really good from the outside with its gradient color scheme but the performance inside is not up to the mark as it comes with an underpowered processor from MediaTek. So, the gaming and multitasking experience suffers a bit.
  • Display – The display does not have Full HD resolution. It is disappointing to miss out on Full HD resolution as most other good smartphones under Rs. 10,000 comes with it.
  • Software – The operating system known as HiOS 4.6 is based on Android 9.0 Pie OS. It is certainly the latest OS from Google but do not expect any major updates in the future, as most budget phones do not get it. The performance of the UI is a bit sluggish and we would have preferred a vanilla Android OS experience.

Key Specs:

Display – 6.21-inch HD+
CPU – MediaTek Helio A22
RAM – 2/3/4GB
Storage – 32/64GB
OS – HiOS 4.6
Rear camera – 13MP and 2MP
Selfie camera – 16MP
Battery – 3500mAh
Connectivity – Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS

#7. Honor 9N

The Honor 9N, a budget smartphone from Huawei’s sub-brand Honor, was launched in India back in July 2018. Lets have a look at some of its flaws below.

  • Design – It is good-looking and has gradient color scheme at the back but the phone is very slippery and hence there are greater chances of dropping the phone and breaking the display.
  • Camera – The photos clicked by the dual rear cameras of the 9N look good on the phone but if you transfer it to your laptop, you’ll find the images to be very bland.

Software – The UI is not the smoothest out there and we found a bit of stuttering and lag in daily usage. Honor might provide a major OS update in the future but right now it runs on EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo OS. Since the phone is quite old and budget phones do not live long, we would suggest you to not buy the Honor 9N now.

Key Specs:

Display – 5.84-inch Full HD+
CPU – Kirin 659
RAM – 3/4GB
Storage – 32/64/128GB
OS – EMUI 8.0
Rear camera – 13MP and 2MP
Selfie camera – 16MP
Battery – 3000mAh
Connectivity – Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS

#8. Infinix Hot S3X

Infinix is another relatively new brand in India with very less service centers. The Hot S3X was launched back in October 2018. Check out some of its drawbacks below.

  • Build – It has a modern look but the build quality is certainly not up to the mark. It feels a bit flimsy. The build quality of the phone should have been better.
  • Software – The phone runs on Hummingbird XOS 3.3 based on Android 8.1 Oreo OS. The name certainly sounds fancy but it does provide a sluggish experience. We would take vanilla Android OS over this fancy UI any day.
  • Camera – The photos clicked by the camera are also average in nature. The images are not sharp and look a bit dull. The low light performance is also poor. We get a lot of noise in the pictures clicked in low light.

Key Specs:

Display – 6.2-inch HD+
CPU – Snapdragon 430
RAM – 3GB
Storage – 32GB
OS – Hummingbird XOS 3.3
Rear camera – 13MP and 2MP
Selfie camera – 16MP
Battery – 4000mAh
Connectivity – Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS

#9. Realme 3

The Realme 3, a budget smartphone from Oppo’s sub-brand, was launched in India back in March 2019. Check out some of its cons below.

  • Software – The ColorOS 6.0 might be based on the latest Android 9.0 Pie OS but the experience is below average since the performance is very sluggish. The interface also does not look pretty. We would any day trade it for vanilla Android OS experience.
  • Battery – The battery life is good but there is no fast charging support. So you will need more than three hours to completely charge the phone from 0-100.
  • Display – The display looks good but Full HD resolution is missing. The 19:9 aspect screen ratio does not support many apps. Hence, you will not able to use the full display while using the unoptimized apps.

Key Specs:

Display – 6.2-inch HD+
CPU – MediaTek Helio P70
RAM – 3/4GB
Storage – 32/64GB
OS – ColorOS 6.0
Rear camera – 13MP and 2MP
Selfie camera – 13MP
Battery – 4230mAh
Connectivity – Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS

#10. Redmi Note 7

The Redmi Note 7, a budget smartphone from Xiaomi, was launched in India back in February 2019. It might be the highest selling phone in this segment but buying this device is a painful experience. Check out some of its faults below.

  • Flash Sale – The Redmi Note 7 will just be available on a certain day of the week at a particular time. The phone gets sold out within few seconds because of the artificial demand created by the brand. Hence, you will have a very frustrating experience in buying this smartphone via flash sale.
  • Software – It runs on MIUI 10 based on the latest Android OS but you’ll get a lot of ads inside the interface. These ads will pop up in general usage, which in turn ruins the complete UI experience.
  • Hybrid Slot – It comes with a hybrid slot for SIM and microSD card. Hence, you will not be able to put in two SIM cards and a microSD card together. This is inconvenient for power users who prefer to have two SIM cards and a microSD card on their phones.

Key Specs:

Display – 6.3-inch Full HD+
CPU – Snapdragon 660
RAM – 3/4GB
Storage – 32/64GB
OS – MIUI 10
Rear camera – 12MP and 2MP
Selfie camera – 13MP
Battery – 4000mAh
Connectivity – Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS

Hope, you have liked this article of top 10 phones under 10000 you should not buy in India. In our opinion, you should purchase better smartphones with a slightly higher budget from well-known smartphone brands if you want to use the smartphone for at least two years. These brands would also offer you a better after sales experience via their service centers. However, if you do intend to use a phone for less than one year, you can go for budget smartphones under Rs. 10000. Do let us know about your opinions in the comments section below.
