Vivo had introduced the V11 Pro in India back in September 2018. It is one of the latest flagship smartphone from the company, which is actually a mid-ranged phone in terms of price. The V11 Pro is a modern piece of art with the bezel-less display and a notch. It is also a selfie-focused smartphone as it comes with a 25 megapixel selfie shooter on the front. We also get dual rear cameras at the back but the main focus is on selfies with Artificial Intelligence face beauty mode. So let us check out the Vivo V11 Pro review in order to find out if it is just a good selfie shooter or it has more substance inside it. However, do take a look at the specifications of the mobile below.
The Vivo V11 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor, coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal memory (expandable up to 256GB). The mobile sports a 6.41-inch Full HD+ display and runs on FunTouch OS 4.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo OS. In the camera department, there is a 12 megapixel primary rear camera along with a 5 megapixel secondary rear camera and a 25 megapixel selfie shooter on the front. A fingerprint sensor is located under the display. We get Dual SIM connectivity along with Dual 4G VoLTE support. Other features include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 5.0 LE and GPS + GLONASS. In the sensor department, we get an accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity and ambient light sensor. Under the hood, there is a 3400mAh non-removable battery with fast charging.
The Vivo V11 Pro is a modern smartphone with bezel-less design. It comes with a notch but it is quite small compared to the other smartphone notches. It has a great build quality as the phone is primarily made of metal and glass. The phone feels very good in hands but it is quite big despite of being bezel-less as the display size is 6.41-inch. So you will have to use both hands to hold the phone firmly. The phone can be used for longer duration without any pain, as it has a slim profile (7.9mm) and weighs 156 grams. The glass back is a bit slippery but you can use a hardcover case to protect the device. Also, the curved edges around the phone provide a solid grip.
Looking at the back first, we get the dual camera setup on the top left in a vertical alignment, followed by the LED flash below. The Vivo branding is found in the middle. The back cover is not removable but a 3400mAh battery sits underneath the device. Now coming to the front side, there is a 6.41-inch display along with the notch, that houses the selfie camera, sensors and earpiece. There are no capacitive buttons below the display as we get on-screen navigation buttons. The fingerprint sensor is placed inside the display. The volume rockers and power/lock button are on the right while the tray for SIM and microSD cards is on the left. At the bottom, we have the microUSB port in the center, loudspeaker holes on the right, primary microphone and 3.5mm audio jack on the left. Overall, the Vivo V11 Pro has a great design along with good hardware.
The Vivo V11 Pro features a 6.41-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels (Full HD+). First of all, the display looks gorgeous because of the Full-Screen bezel-less design. The bezels are minimal on the sides and we get a notch at the top. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 91.27%. However, the display is kind of big for most consumers in the Indian market and hence you will have to use both hands to use the phone. It is very easy to view under direct sunlight and hence its sunlight legibility is good. The color tone is neutral and hence the colors and general look of the display is great for consuming rich content and play games. The 19.5:9 aspect ratio is a new standard for smartphones and hence most apps are not yet optimized. The native apps look great on this display but developers need to update their apps to make use of this real estate on this screen. There is a 2.5D curved glass on top of the display and it helps in protecting it from daily wear and tear. However, use a good protective case and do not drop the phone in order to protect the display from cracks or scratches.
The touch response of the V11 Pro is very smooth because of the good display quality and lag-free interface. Overall, the Vivo V11 Pro comes with a brilliant display that is suitable for high-definition content consumption.
The Vivo V11 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and comes with 6GB RAM. It is a mid-ranged chipset from the house of Qualcomm and it can run most of the apps and games without facing any lag or stuttering. We did not face any frame drops during day-to-day usage as well. The phone can handle intense multitasking as it comes with 6GB RAM onboard and you will have around 4GB of free RAM most of the times. In terms of gaming, you can play most of the high-end games smoothly without facing any lag and they look stunning on this immersive display. The V11 Pro features 64GB of internal storage, out of which you will get around 52GB of free space. Although, if you want more storage, you can get that by adding a microSD card (up to 256GB). The USP of the V11 Pro is its in-display fingerprint sensor, which is present under the display. It certainly looks like a futuristic feature and works well too. You can also use the IR Face Unlock feature to unlock the phone.
Now coming to connectivity, we get Dual 4G VoLTE and Dual SIM (nano) support where the second SIM slot also supports 4G LTE unlike other smartphones. There is a dedicated microSD card slot as well. The V11 Pro comes with a 3400mAh battery (non-removable) under its hood and we get Dual-Engine 18W fast charging support. It gives up to one day of battery life with moderate usage.
Overall, the Vivo V11 Pro is a true all-rounder when it comes to performance.
In the camera department of the Vivo V11 Pro, we get a dual camera setup at the back - 12 megapixel primary camera along with a 5 megapixel secondary camera. These lenses can click good images in outdoor daylight conditions. The photos have a lot sharpness and the colors look very vivid and crisp. The secondary lens helps in clicking great portrait images under natural lighting. However, portrait images are not perfect and they do not look good in poor indoor lighting. In low light, the pictures have some amount of noise and grain like most other Android cameras. The focusing is very quick due to PDAF but sometime it struggles to focus quickly when macro images are shot. The HDR mode is good and you should always use it to get more detail in your pictures. Talking about the selfie camera, we get a massive 25 megapixel shooter on the front and it is capable of clicking great selfies in both daylight and low light. We get A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) beauty mode for
clicking natural looking portrait selfies. This mode gets better with time and provides better output as you keep on clicking selfies using it.
The machine drilled speaker holes of the Vivo V11 Pro are located on the right bottom. The quality of the loudspeaker is quite good and it is very loud as well. There is no sound distortion even at the highest volume level. However, the audio will get blocked by your palm while playing games or watching videos as the loudspeaker is placed at the bottom. We get a native music app which offers a lot of features and thus you'll not need any third-party app. Although, you can download an app like Saavn to stream online music.
The Vivo V11 Pro can play or stream both Full HD as well as 4K videos easily as it comes with a capable processor and Full HD+ display. The native video app has all the basic features and hence you do not need any third-party app unless you have a favorite video player app. Although, to enjoy both audio and video at the optimal quality, you should plug-in a good pair of earphones as the bundled earphones are average in quality. They videos look awesome on that huge display. Overall, the Vivo V11 Pro provides a great audio and video playback.
Out of the box, the Vivo V11 Pro runs on FunTouch OS 4.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo OS. It is a big improvement over the previous iterations of FunTouch OS as we are getting the latest Android version here. However, it is very difficult to expect a major Android OS update in the future since Vivo does not have a good reputation of providing OS updates. The custom interface looks more or less like iOS as the app icons, settings menu and other features look very similar. Although, the phone has a smooth UI and we did not face any lag day-to-day usage. Now talking about the features of FunTouch OS, it is very customizable and has a lot of features such as gesture controls, home screen customization, themes and more. However, there is no app drawer, similar to iOS and we get a single layer UI. In order to access the quick settings, you have to swipe up from the bottom of the screen instead of visiting the notification area. In the next update, you can expect the option to hide by notch as well. There are some pre-installed apps (bloatware) but you can easily delete them if you want to. In case you're not fond of FunTouch OS, then we would suggest you to download a third-party theme such as Pixel Launcher for a more stock Android like feel.
Overall, the Vivo V11 Pro has a very stable interface with lots of customizable features.
The Vivo V11 Pro is a great mid-ranged smartphone from the house of Vivo. It has a stunning design along with a beautiful display but the screen size is on the higher side. The overall performance is great, interface is smooth and cameras are good as well. The battery life is decent but we get fast charging support. The processor is quite good but it could have been a bit better considering the competition. So if you want a great smartphone with a massive footprint and latest technology, then go for the Vivo V11 Pro. If you want to check out the competition, then have a look at the Asus ZenFone 5Z, POCO F1 and Honor Play.
