Electronics major Acer launched its Helios 500 laptop in the Predator series in India on July 24. The gaming laptop has two processor variants – one with Intel Core and the other with AMD Ryzen. The laptop targets ‘extreme gamers’ according to Acer. The gaming machine will either be powered by the eighth generation Intel Core i9 and Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700.
Acer India’s CMO and Consumer Head, Chandrahas Panigrahi said, “The demand for our ‘Predator’ series has been phenomenal hence we have expanded the ‘Helios’ gaming notebook line to provide our gamers with extreme performance on the go.”
Acer Predator Helios 500 Display and Memory
Acer Predator Helios 500 flaunts a 17.3-inch 4K UHD or a FHD IPS display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The memory management on the Helios 500 laptop is occupied by Intel Optane, NVMePCIe SSDs, Killer DoubleShot Pro, and up to 64GB of RAM, which makes the machine ideal for gaming with extreme graphics and live streaming. Nvidia offers a G-Sync technology on the Predator Helios 500 that is supported on inbuilt display as well as external monitors.
Acer Predator Helios 500 Processor and GPU
Acer Predator Helios 500 runs on 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK processor chipset with 8GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics processing unit for gaming. The other variant of the laptop comes with an AMD Ryzen 7 2700 chipset coupled with AMD Vega 56 graphics processor.
A variant with Intel Core i7 8th Generation processor is also available for the Acer Predator Helios 500 machine.
Acer Predator Helios 500 Connectivity and Sound Ports
On the connectivity front, the gaming machine is equipped with HDMI 2.0 ports which support up to three external monitors, dual Thunderbolt 3.0 ports and a DisplayPort. The dual speakers and a subwoofer on the Helios 500 laptop enhance the gaming experience through audio quality offered. The laptop also supports Acer TrueHarmony and Waves MAXXAudio technology for the best quality of sound output while playing games.
Acer Predator Helios 500 CoolBoost Technology
Every laptop at some point of gaming has to deal with increased temperatures, that is why the Acer Predator Helios 500 comes packs 3D AeroBlade metal fans under the hood. The casing also encloses five heat pipes to release hot air from the laptop while the 3D metal fans keep the machine’s key components cooler with the cool breeze. The fan speed can be controlled by the PredatorSense App which also doubles up for controlling and monitoring the temperature, overclocking, hotkeys, lighting and fan control.
Acer Predator Helios 500 Keyboard and Trackpad
The keyboard is a backlit RGB one, offering support for upto 16.8 million colors and four lighting zones. There is a blue-lit Precision Trackpad for precise scrolling and movements just like a mouse even while playing games. An anti-ghosting technology provides control for executing commands and keyboard combos for complex actions.
Acer Predator Helios 500 Price
The Intel Core i9 version of the Predator Helios 500 comes at Rs 2,49,999 while the one with Intel Core i7 is priced at Rs 1,99,999 which is touted to be the cheapest variant of the laptop as the price for the AMD Ryzen 7 2700-powered machine has not yet been revealed.
