Ever since Asus unveiled the ROG Gaming Phone last month at Computex 2018 in Taipei, it was speculated if it would ever make its way to India. Now, it has been heard that ROG Gaming Phone will be soon launched in India before the end of September. Asus has always been playing pretty well in providing the best of gaming laptops in the ROG series. And this time its their high-end ROG smartphone with the finest of configurations. Be it water resistance or fast charging support, Asus has not left any stones unturned in changing the game for smartphones.
Asus ROG Gaming Phone Specifications
The ROG gaming phone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset overclocked at 2.96 GHz for optimum performance. Graphics rendering for gaming is handled by the Adreno 630 GPU. The ROG smartphone comes with a 2.5D 6-inch AMOLED screen with HDR visuals giving it an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. Based on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, the smartphone runs on ROG Gaming X Mode UI for the best gaming experience. The X Mode, with just one tap, clears background app activity to free up RAM for gaming and save battery from draining. It comes coupled with 8GB of RAM and upto 512GB UFS2.1 in-built storage. The phone houses a dual-camera setup at the rear with one being a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor (f/1.8 aperture) and one being an 8MP AR capable wide-angle sensor. The front camera is an 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture featuring Selfie Panorama and Beauty modes. The rear camera setup is capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps. Asus ROG smartphone packs a 4000 mAh battery with fast charging support which can juice it up from 0% to 60% in just 35-minutes.

The Asus ROG smartphone with its futuristic styling offers water resistance, a rear mounted uniquely-shaped fingerprint scanner, side-mounted secondary USB Type-C port for charging. The ROG smartphone also supports facial recognition, QuickCharge 4.0, customizable AURA RGB lights of the ROG logo which can also be clubbed with notifications. It also comes equipped GameCool vapour chambers at the rear which keeps the phone effectively cool while playing games. The speed of these cooling fans can be controlled from the settings. Alongwith the cooling fans, a carbon cooling pad and a copper heat spreader are also installed under the hood for optimum performance. The dual front-facing speakers with smart amplifiers enhance the gaming experience and the sound is not muffled up while playing games in landscape mode. Wireless connectivity options on the ROG smartphone include Wi-Fi 802.11ad, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC and dual Nano-SIM support.
Asus ROG Gaming Phone Price and Availability
Asus CEO Jerry Shen confirmed during the launch of the Zenfone 5Z that they are planning on bringing the ROG gaming phone to India within the third quarter of 2018.
For sure, we will launch the ROG phone here in India. I cannot tell you the exact date, but it will arrive in Q3. It is already Q3, so we have three months to do so.
The smartphone will be available in a Black color variant and is expected to be launched at around Rs 70000 in India. Notably, the smartphone will be accompanied by several accessories, which can be purchased separately, to enhance the gaming experience.
