Chip-maker Qualcomm launched three new mobile SOCs at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) conference being held in Shanghai. Made for mid-range mobiles and tablets, the SOCs are – Snapdragon 632, Snapdragon 439, and Snapdragon 429. Made on the new FinFet process, Qualcomm said that the SOCs promise better performance, low power consumption, and enhanced battery life as compared to its previous generations. The SOCs are coupled with artificial intelligence (AI) functionality with support from Qualcomm’s Neural Processing SDK.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 429

The successor to the 425, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 429 gets a performance boost of 1.9Ghz per core compared to 1.4GHz in the former. The Snapdragon 429 made on a 12nm process, will be able to boost battery performance by 25% as per the company. The Snapdragon 429 comes with 4 Cortex A53 cores with Adreno 504 GPU for better graphic performance. The SOC can also be coupled with the X6 LTE modem. It handles a 16MP or a dual 8MP camera along with an HD+ display.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 439

Overcoming the drawbacks of its predecessor, the Snapdragon 435, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 439 is made on a Cortex A53 architecture with eight cores clocked at 1.95Ghz. The Snapdragon 439 is also made on a 12nm process similar to the 429 SOC. The company claims that it provides superior power efficiency. The CPU has an Adreno 505 graphics processing unit, the same as the 435.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 632

The most powerful amongst the three, the Snapdragon is built on a 14nm FinFet process with an amalgamation of Kryo 250 cores clocked at 1.8Ghz. As per Qualcomm, the new processor will sport a 40% higher CPU performance when compared to the Snapdragon 626. The Snapdragon 632 features a 1MB cache for gold and 512KB for silver cores based Cortex-A73 and Cortex-A53 respectively. Recent leaks suggest that this may feature in upcoming devices from Xiaomi.
