This is what happened at the ‘Made by Google’ launch event!

The much-anticipated Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been officially launched in New York on 9th October during the ‘Made by Google’ event 2018. There was also a slew of other products unleashed, including a Pixel Slate tablet and Pixelbook laptop in addition to a new Google Home Hub Device.

Specifications of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been leaked several times over the internet for the past few months and there was little surprise left to see what new attractions these devices can bring for us. But for the starters, experts believe Google has designed a true high-end phone with perhaps one of the best cameras that a smartphone can have in present time. Also, the phones come with the latest Android 9 Pie OS out of the box. The new Pixel phones are built to give you more fun with AR and VR experience. Pixel 3 and 3 XL are built to work with Google Daydream View Headset. Unlimited online storage and AI-powered Adaptive Battery are some of the other attractive features of these phones.

Both the phones come with a high price-tag, and starting October 11, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be available for pre-orders in India. Both the phones will go on sale from November 1st in India. The base model of Google Pixel 3 will cost Rs 71,000 with 64GB of storage. The 128GB storage variant will be available for a price tag of Rs 80,000. Google Pixel 3 XL will also be available in 64GB and 128GB storage options, and will cost Rs 83,000 and Rs 92,000 respectively. Both the phones will be available in three color options in India – Just Black, Clearly White and Not Pink.

Design and Display

Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL are designed after their predecessor Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Pixel 3 XL exudes a little feel of iPhone XS’s notch at the top of its display.

Pixel 3 XL sports a 6.3-inch screen with QHD+ OLED touchscreen and ultra-thin bezel design with a large 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The Pixel 3 has a 5.5-inch FHD+ flexible OLED display with a standard 18:9 aspect ratio. Both the phones come with Always-on display, Aluminum frame + hybrid coating, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 both on front and back.

Hardware Specification

Pixel 3 and 3 XL are embedded with two stellar processing chipset which according to Google, will the make the phones efficient and flexible in computational skills. The handshake of Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core chipset and Google’s own Pixel Visual Core, will enhance the core performance of these devices. They are meant for effective AI and machine learning capabilities.

Camera

Pixel 3 and 3 XL come with similar camera specifications and Google is sounding most ambitious for what it has put together for its amazing performance.

Both the phones have dual-pixel 12.2MP camera lens with aperture f/1.8 in the rear. The cameras come with optical and electronic image stabilization. The front has dual cameras with 8MP wide-angle and telephoto lenses. The wide-angle has an aperture of f/2.2 while the telephoto lens has f/1.8 aperture.

Google Lens is integrated in both the device cameras. There are a host of features that come with the camera app, including Motion Autofocus, Group Selfies, Top Shot and Night Sight.
