Not long ago, Asus launched the Zenfone Max Pro M1 in April which competed directly with Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. Now that we know the Redmi Note 6 Pro has been officially launched in India recently, how could Asus be left behind? That’s right, Asus is all set to unveil the successor to the Zenfone Max Pro M1 which fared well in the market. Not only that, rumours has it that the Taiwanese tech giant will also unveil Zenfone Max M2 which will succeed the recently launched Zenfone Max M1.

Asus has confirmed that the new Zenfone Max Pro will see the light of the day in the second week of this month. Asus India tweeted on Twitter that the Zenfone Max Pro M2 will be a mid-range smartphone with the most durable screen in the segment – Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and will launch on December 11 exclusively on Flipkart. To recall, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 was launched back in April on Flipkart exclusively. It sports a 5.99-inch 2.5D FHD+ display and packed a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset with Adreno 509 GPU, up to 6GB RAM, up to 64GB storage, dual rear cameras, and a massive 5,000mAh battery. Offering such luring specifications at an affordable price, made the Zenfone Max Pro M1 a massive hit for Asus.

Talking about specifications, we should look at the leaked specifications of the Zenfone Max Pro M2 that have been in the air for a long time now. As already mentioned, the new Zenfone will flaunt a Corning Gorilla Glass 6-protected screen. As per leaks, the Max Pro M2 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset along with Adreno 512 GPU for gaming. The base variant is expected to host 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage, while there will be a 6GB RAM variant too just like the Zenfone Max Pro M1, an 8GB RAM variant should be on the cards too. The screen on the Zenfone Max Pro M2 will flaunt a bigger 6.26-inch 2.5D FHD+ display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 6. In terms of optics, the smartphone will sport a dual rear camera setup with a 13MP primary and a 5MP secondary sensor, with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). The front camera is said to be another 13MP sensor coupled with a soft-LED flash. The Zenfone Max Pro M2 will, too, pack a 5,000 mAh battery that should last more than two days on a single charge.

There are rumours surrounding the launch of another Asus smartphone, the Max M2, which will succeed the recently launched Zenfone Max M1. Though we don’t expect that to happen this soon but the leaked specifications can be taken into consideration. The display on the Zenfone Max M2 is said to be a 6-inch FHD+ display that should bear a wider notch than the Zenfone Max Pro M2 and might feature a Corning Gorilla Glass too, no versions specified as such. It will feature 3GB and 4GB RAM variants with up to 64GB internal storage. There will be dual rear cameras on the Zenfone Max M2 too, but the sensors are unknown. Another specification hints that the smartphone will pack either a 4,000 mAh or a 5,000 mAh battery for long lasting gaming. Lastly, it might pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, that we saw on the Zenfone Max Pro M1, along with Adreno 509 GPU.

How many of those specifications fall in the right place would be seen when the smartphone launches in India on December 11. Asus has played their cards well and it would be interesting to see how the new Zenfone Max Pro fares against the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro.
