Notch, waterdrop notch, dewdrop notch, teardrop notch, no notch. Yes, the notch game was started by Apple, in 2017, who tried to increase the size of the new iPhone for which they even removed the Touch ID button. And there came the iPhone X. But this game was taken a ‘notch’ above with many smartphones coming up with drop notches at the top of displays. ZTE-owned Nubia just killed the notch and introduced its Nubia X with no notch, whatsoever. You might be thinking if there’s no notch, then there should be a pop-up or elevating camera. Well, let’s face it, there’s no front camera either. Yes, the Nubia X only features dual rear cameras in terms of optics.

Headquartered in China, ZTE-owned Nubia Technology manufactures smartphones. Founded by ZTE in 2012, Nubia gained its independent entity in 2015 and the former owner had to reduce its stake in the company to 49.9% in 2017. Thus, Nubia was treated all as an independent company and not a subsidiary of ZTE, but it was just associated to the former due to its stake in the firm.

Nubia launched the latest flagship Nubia X on October 31 in China. The smartphone does not have any notch and front-facing camera but it does come with dual displays and dual fingerprint sensors on each side. Yes, the Nubia X sports a display each at the rear as well as at the front. The front display is of 6.26-inch while the rear features a display of 5.2-inch, which are interchangeable using the dual fingerprint sensors, simultaneously, present on each side edge of the smartphone. Other key features include a Snapdragon 845 chipset, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM. Now you must be thinking how you would take a selfie if the front camera is missing, then let us tell you that you can make use of the rear display as a primary one and use the rear cameras as a selfie camera.

Talking about other specs and features, the Nubia X runs on Android Oreo-based Nubia UI 6.0.2 and is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, paired with Adreno 630 GPU for gaming. The primary Full HD+ display measures at 6.26-inch with a 19:9 aspect ratio while the secondary display at the rear is a 5.1-inch HD+ OLED screen, both protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The Nubia X will come in two RAM options – 6GB and 8GB with LPDDR4X technology. The optics department is handled by the dual camera setup including a primary sensor of 16MP with f/1.8 aperture and a 24MP secondary sensor with f/1.7 aperture. The dual camera setup also comes along with dual-LED dual-tone flash. The Nubia X comes in three inbuilt storage options – 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB but with no expandability slot. The smartphone comes with a host of usual connectivity options, including 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth v5.0, and USB Type-C port compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0+ technology. A 3,800mAh battery fuels the Nubia X with fast charge support.

To conclude, the Nubia X is priced at CNY 3,299 (approx Rs 35,000) for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant in Grey and Black with Gold colour models, but the Blue model costs CNY 3,399 (around Rs 36,000). The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant will retail for CNY 3,699 (roughly Rs 39,000) for the Grey and Black with Gold colour models, however the Blue model has been listed at CNY 3,799 (around Rs 40,000). The highest and special combination of 8GB RAM and 256GB storage of the Nubia X will cost CNY 4,199 (Rs 44,200 approximately) for the Gold and Black colour models, and the Blue with Gold colour model will retail for CNY 4,299 (around Rs 45,200).

The Nubia X is yet to make its debut in India as well as global markets, but is already available for pre-orders in China starting October 31 and will be up for sale from November 5. The smartphone is already up on Nubia China’s site, JD.com, T-mall, and Suning, in four different gradient colour options to choose from.
