This story of Evolution will definitely take you by surprise!

Evolution has come a long way from the dawn of mankind. And since then, the only thing constant is the continuous process of evolving from one sphere to another. In that stead, on August 2, 2018, at an event in New Delhi, spectators were witness to another story of evolution. Remember the advert, ‘We’re the BlackBerry Boys’? Well, if that rang a bell, it’s time to hum the tune again, this time with a pinch of nostalgia.

But before we lift the curtains, here’s a story worth a read.

Towards the early years of the second decade of the twenty-first century, when the world was still fancying the iPhones, BlackBerry ruled the roost with almost a 100 million subscribers worldwide. Then suddenly something happened in the early months of 2014. A tsunami of sorts swept away users in hordes. The number of subscribers fell way under 30 million within a span of a few months. And soon John Chen, CEO of BlackBerry announced that it will cease operations in the mobility sector. An eventful 14-year run had suddenly come to an end. People were left with nothing more than memories of the QWERTY keypad, the end-to-end security on the BlackBerry OS, the revolutionary ball-pad, and the ever-so-popular BBM messenger.

BlackBerry was suddenly reduced to what its one-time rival Nokia was – a sense of nostalgia in sepia-tone.

But soon, the tide turned again. And just as HMD Global was responsible for the neo-resurrection of Nokia, Optiemus Infracom, out of nowhere, held out a hand – pulling the bellagured brand out of extinction. It breathed a fresh whiff of air into a fossil. Enter BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X! With an armour of Corning Gorilla Glass 5, the smartphones have a display glass tougher than any in its league. Add to that Series 7000 aluminium framing and a textured-rubberised back panel – and you have all the ingredients of a premium smartphone.

Juicing up both the variants to last longer, is a 4,000mAh battery. They feature the BlackBerry Power Centre app to deeply analyse your battery usage and accordingly optimise usage settings. The camera on the Evolve X is a 12MP with a secondary 13MP sensor to get you all the bokeh or blur effects. The Evolve has dual 13MP sensors at the rear. Both variants sport a 16MP sensor at the front.

Squaring up, the variants have also evolved on internal storage. A 64GB on the Evolve and upto 2TB (using a microSD card) on the Evolve X.

The BlackBerry Evolve bears a price tag of Rs 24,990 and the Evolve X has been priced at Rs 34,990 (6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant). Both the smartphones will be sold via Amazon.in on the initial stages and will later be made available to offline channels. While the BlackBerry Evolve will go on sale by the end of August, the Evolve X will be sold starting mid-September.

Amazon.in offers a 5 percent cashback on no-cost EMI plans with ICICI Bank credit cards. All other leading banks will also be offering the no-cost EMI options to purchase the BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X. Jio SIM card users can also avail launch offer benefits upto Rs 3,950.
