Apple at the WWDC 2018 event has introduced a new version of its macOS Mojave alongside the iOS 12, Watch OS, tvOS and more. This version brings a slew of new features among various long-overdue features like the dark mode and many more that are exclusive to Mac platform. While Mac users can rejoice about the upgrade, it certainly makes Windows users a little jealous considering how irresistible these new features are. Then again, this article should help you get some of these features if you are using a Windows 10 machine.

Note: Getting these features on Windows 10 machine is pretty simple since most of these features are already available lying underneath the system settings and part of them are available in the form of free to use apps. So, let’s get started.

Here’s How to Get macOS Mojave Features on Windows 10:

The Dark Mode: The dark mode is easily the most requested feature for Mac users, though the dark mode was available previously, it is only this time the feature is completely true to its name, thankfully. As for Windows, it’s already available by default. In case you didn’t know, head over to system settings menu, click on ‘Personalization,’ then head over to ‘Colors’ and then scroll down and change the ‘Default app mode’ to ‘Dark.’  Changing this setting will change the app windows and other windows to black and grey. However, do note that menus like the taskbar and the Start Menu still remain as they were before. A better alternative to this is changing the color scheme to any dark color.

Dynamic Wallpaper: macOS Mojave has introduced this feature called Dynamic wallpaper which depending on the time of the day changes from day-afternoon-evening-night. The default desert wallpaper is literally stunning when set to the auto-mode especially at the night. However, getting the exact similar feature at this point is not possible, but you can download the macOS Mojave wallpapers from Here. Now, make a folder and duplicate the wallpapers inside the folder. Now head over to ‘Personalization’ settings and from the ‘Background’ dropdown menu chose  ‘Slideshow’. Here, choose the folder you just made with the wallpapers and set ‘change picture’ to ‘6 hours.’ Then turn off the shuffle, and enable ‘allow slideshow on battery power.’ This automatically changes the wallpaper every 12 hours.

Stacks: Stacks is one of the most favorite features of macOS Mojave. What this basically does is automatically sorts all the cluttered files on your desktop once you enable the Stacks. This sorting is done according to their file type. All the images on desktop become one stack, PDF files become another stack arranged to overlie on top of each other. Now, this is one hell of a feature if you are like people whose desktop is a cluttered mess.

Since there is no tweak within Windows 10 OS available for this, you will have to download an application called, Fences: Download. Once downloaded, Install the app, and once you are done, create a free account, and then Fences will automatically sort your desktop into folder-like things. Though it might not look exactly like Stacks, it does come close in offering such experience.

Quick Look: The Quick look is yet another feature which lets you peek the content of a document, image without opening fully in their dedicated apps. To get this feature, you will have to install QuickLook from the Microsoft Store: Download. Once downloaded, just select an image, file, or audio file, and press ‘Space’ to open it up in Quick Look.

Screenshot Tool: macOS upgrade also features an updated and improved screenshot tool. This lets users take screenshots on the Mac using keyboard shortcuts. Apple now has added a HUD tool which when you take a screenshot, lets you click on the preview image that pops up and shows handy editing shortcuts right there. To get this similar feature in Windows, you will have to install an app called Tiny Take: DownloadYou don’t have to change any settings and this brings many handy shortcuts like annotation, cropping, and more right when you finish taking the screenshots. However, if you have updated to latest Windows 10 build, it brings a new keyboard shortcut Windows + Shift + S’ that brings up a screenshot tool with basic options.

So, these were top 5 macOS Mojave features that can be ported to Windows 10 or at least offer close to the same experience. Obviously, not all the features of Mojave can be brought to Windows just yet, but since the OS is still in beta, there’s still some hope. But the features we talked here are some of the most talked so there’s no reason for you to feel left out if you are not a Mac user. Do try out and let us know what you think.
