After running the preview for a while in selected cities, Reliance at the annual AGM has introduced the much hyped ‘JioGigaFiber’, it’s connected home solution that offers ultra-high speed fiber connection with up to 100Mbps speed. JioFiber is company’s A Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband service that will also offer unlimited voice and video calling over VoIP and access to JioTV app through the GigaTV Set-top box to watch Live TV.
A month after announcing the new hardware product, Reliance has finally announced that registrations for the same are now open. However, the Mukesh Ambani-led company mentioned that it will prioritize the rollout of the Jio broadband service in the cities with most registrations, meaning that it will be a first-come-first-serve basis. And, to make to sure it doesn’t receive any fake demand, the company has started the registration process which involves OTP to authenticate. While the company didn’t announce plans in specific and rollout time frame as such, it did mention that JioFiber will offer speed of up to 1Gbps including all the additional benefits mentioned above. Since Jio is all out the low-cost high offering, we know that many of you might be interested in registering for the JioFiber broadband service, so to help you in doing so, we are here to explain how to register for the service. Here’s how you can register for JioFiber broadband service:
- You don’t have to be a Jio customer to register for JioFiber, which is a good thing. Firstly, you need to go to official Jio website’s GigaFiber page.
- If you are using a PC/Laptop, the webpage will ask for location access on the top left corner, grant it and your address will be automatically detected.
- Since JioFiber is aimed at everyone, it will ask you whether you are seeking the JioFiber connection for Home or Work, chose one depending on your choice.
- Now in the next page, it will ask you to enter details like full name, and mobile number. Once you enter the details, you will be asked to enter the OTP which will be sent to the number you have mentioned. In case, if you are registering for the JioFiber services for your society, or if you are a developer, or from a township, you can choose either of the options, but it totally optional.
- That’s it, the process is done. However, it also lets you add more locations with the same registration. You don’t need to pay any sum during the time of registration.
Now that you are done registering, all you have to do is just wait for the company to contact you, and this is where we are lost since it didn’t mention any time frame for the roll out yet. But once the rollout starts, the company will install a 4K router at your location using which you are stream 4K content and play VR games on the network. As for the large screen experience, the company will install a GigaTV setup box and will be given a voice-activated remote to users. With the GigaTV, users will have access to “600+ TV channels, thousands of movies, millions of songs and also supports JioTV, JioCinema, JioTVCall, JioSmartLiving, JioNetVelocity, JioCloud, MediaShare, and JioStore apps on a TV screen.
Even we are among the ones who have registered to the Jiofiber network and are waiting to hear from the company with an update. Since the service offers multiple options like GigaTV, 4K streaming, a smart home suite which includes accessories such as an audio dongle, video dongle, smart speaker, Wi-Fi extender, smart plug, outdoor security camera and TV camera, we are more than excited to see how well it performs and how economical the plans would be.
