Mazaaq by Vikas Bihari

Haven’t we already heard the saying “From Russia with Love”? Well this is Russian in quite many ways.  This play consists of short stories by the very loved Russian playwright Antonio Checkhov. The first one about a Man who earns a few Roubles a day by performing some tricks although one day goes everything haywire and resulting in some slick comedy. The second one about a Woman who enters into a bank and gets unreasonable demands fulfilled by the employee of that specific bank. Although this certainly is the last one but the one that is surely going to create this evening a comedy of errors one.

This is being presented by the Prism Theatre Group that has enthralled its audience with a number of plays like Khidki, Gangster and the list goes on.

Alliance Francaise, Delhi will be hosting it on the 22nd July at 7:30 p.m.

Taj Mahal Ka Tender

The name does tickle your bone, right?  Watching it live will be even better. This play is written by the awe inspiring playwright Ajay Shukla. This satire beautifully expresses how corrupt and damaged our entire system is. It forces us to sympathise with the mere leader who himself is paralysed because of the very greedy administration.  To cringe and enthral live, do go to Lok Kala Manch on 22nd of July at 6: 00 P.M. sharp.

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf  

British plays, British teas and all such ideals of ideal good life have been influenced by our foregone colonial masters. This play is a little close to our heart. National Theatre has undertaken a project to showcase some of the British masterpieces in India. With Edward Albee’s quick wit and James MacDonald’s intelligent directorial, this one is going to simply be a treat.

Baat Niklegi toh

Transformation has been an integral part of our lives. And this play expresses transformation beautifully. It is set in the 1990’s when India was facing Babri Masjid demolition and the infamous NEP. This play expresses the aspiration of the Indian youth torn between the new modern world and the age old traditional roots. To catch this play, go to the Stein Auditorium on the 29th of July at 5 or 7:30 pm.

30 Days in September

Theatre has had the capability to influence us since years. Using this platform to send across a powerful message, Asmita Theatre hopes to give a huge blow to the shackles of accepted incest in our society. This play is about the horrors of child sexual abuse and it hopes to urge the audience to speak freely against this very issue. With very famous and critically acclaimed actors like Rahul Khanna, Amita Walia and more, this play hopes to initiate an environment of optimism and talks about crushing the danger without any inhibition. To watch such strong performances and a spine chilling storyline, Muktadhara Auditorium on the 23rd of July at 7 pm is the place to be.
