Weather Alert!

If someone would ask you what is the most important thing you can’t live without? Well, the first answer that will pop in my head, without any pause would be my smartphone? Or maybe my cosmetics? Contrary to my answers, when yesterday I stepped out of the home I realized there’s something more pertinent in this world. Something that was taken for granted for a long, long time.

AIR.

We have almost forgotten about how hanging our life is on the air which we breathe every microsecond. The recent upheaval in the environment has created hue and cry everywhere. People have started walking with masks on due to the increased respiratory issues and irritated eyes.

There are multiple reasons behind this degradation in the quality of the air. Delhi shares its border with Punjab and Haryana. And post-Diwali days are dedicated to burning agricultural waste which in turn adds to the already polluted ambiance.

This year, even the cracker-ban during Diwali could not save people from the horror of excessive pollutants in the air. These pollutants are majorly the combination of nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, ozone, and smoke. Which are toxic enough to stress you with a cough or chest irritation, difficulty in breathing or as worse as lung damage.

This time has declared by the Delhi health department as ‘Health Crisis’ and people are advised to stay at home as much as they can. Especially children and elderly should take special precautions and stay put at home.

However, the time is not to get scared and let things happen on their own, instead, this is the time to take hold of where we are heading to. This is the time to wake up and think of what we were not doing until now. This is the time to become consciously active and priorities the needs of our surroundings and the people living in it.
