Do you know how it feels when a child gets separated from its parents or when the child leaves them to make its own entity? It’s really hard to digest but it has to happen some day or the other. The newest parent to let go his son is the Chinese mobile communication company, Oppo. You might be wondering – Oppo is a parent to whom and why is the company left alone now? Well, you might have heard of the Realme 1 smartphone that was launched exclusively in India in May 2018. The smartphone was launched under Oppo’s sub-brand Realme, which has now decided to part its way from the parent company. Realme separated from Oppo late last month, and the brand now accidentally teased the launch of its second smartphone in India. The accidental teaser banner was posted on Realme’s website, which has now been taken down.

Realme 1 was an Amazon India exclusive smartphone and was targeted for the budget market, with best in class performance at the offered price. The pocket friendly smartphone was a hit, partly owing to its beautiful and stunning back panel design with diamond-like colour finish. The new Realme smartphone is ‘a notch above’ its predecessor, as the teaser was titled. The teaser showed the Realme 2 with a display notch and a diamond cut rear design, in a stunning blue colour. Going by the trend of dual cameras, the smartphone will be featuring dual-lens camera setup at the rear with a fingerprint sensor, both being additions to the predecessor’s features.

Realme 2 is expected to debut in the coming weeks, and might feature top-notch specifications to rule the budget segment. The smartphone will definitely be competing with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Honor 9i Lite, and Samsung Galaxy On8 to stand out from the crowd and mark its own entity in the market among the well established players. That being said, the Realme 2 shall bear a starting price tag under Rs 15,000.

The newly-separated brand’s first smartphone, the Realme 1, was launched in May 2018 under Oppo. The Realme 1 is still an India exclusive device, being sold via Amazon at a starting price of Rs 8,990 which goes up to Rs 13,990 for the newly launched 6GB RAM variant, with 128GB of on-board storage. The phone retails in stunning colour options like the Diamond Black with diamond-cut design, Silver, and Solar Red to choose from.

The Realme 2 is expected to switch over to a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset from the MediaTek Helio series chip, that was packed in Realme 1. The latter uses an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 processor to run the device, coupled up with a two-core AI chip. The Realme 1 sports a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing sensor to deliver beautiful images. Powering up the device, is a 3,410mAh battery to last a long time on moderate usage. The 4G LTE-enabled Realme 1 is available in three storage options – 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB RAM with 32GB, 64GB and 128GB of storage, respectively.

Realme will be the second such brand after OnePlus to separate from their parent company, Oppo. OnePlus is already ruling the flagship market in India with performance-oriented smartphones, and the best specifications in the market. It will be really interesting to see how Realme fares in the budget segment with their second smartphone, and if Oppo sees the child as a competition or bless it with showers of blessing.
