Jio Phone 2, Jio GigaFiber Launched at Reliance’s AGM; Price, Specifications and more

Mukesh Ambani-owned RIL’s Annual General Meeting held on July 5, 2018 brought quite a few treats for Indian audiences. The highlights of the event were the latest Jio Phone 2 and Jio GigaFiber, the company’s FTTH home broadband solution. 

Jio Phone 2

The Jio Phone 2 is a successor to the Jio Phone launched in 2017. This time we have got plenty of improvements and updates, the device is a broad Blackberry style phone with a full QWERTY keypad, dual SIM support and 2.4-inch display. To our surprise the devices runs on 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage along with SD card support. Jio Phone 2 will now support popular application like Whatsapp, Youtube and Facebook.
 

Jio Phone 2 Specifications

Jio Phone 2 is a device with a full QWERTY keypad which makes the device a big and broad one. The display is 2.4-inch wide and it runs on KAI OS, we also get 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage along with SD card support. The phone comes with a 2 MP primary camera and a VGA camera on the front, a 2000 mAh battery powers the device. In the connectivity department, we have support for VoLTE, VoWiFi, NFC, GPS, Bluetooth, and FM radio.

Jio Phone 2 Availability and Offers

Reliance has also picked a interesting date for the availability of the device that is August, 15 and the price is set to Rs. 2,999. If you have the previous gen of Jio Phone, you can exchange that with the new one at just Rs. 501 under the Monsoon Hungama offer.

Jio GigaFiber

We have been listening about Jio Fiber for quite some time now and today it is officially launched as Jio GigaFiber, as rightly said by Isha Ambani,”Gone are the days of Mbps, now it will be all about Gbps.”. The broadband connection is claimed to have speed of up to 1Gbps with added functionality to connect to a VR headset. 
 
Another offering is the GigaTV which comes with voice commands on a mic-enabled TV remote to access various Jio apps such as Jio TV, Jio Cinema, Jio TV Call and also supports TV calling. Registration for Jio GigaFiber will also start from August 15 from the MyJio app and Jio.com. This service by Jio will be available in 1,100 cities across India.
