Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Note 9 is already set for launch on August 9 in India. Now it has been tipped that Samsung is planning to launch the mid-range Galaxy On8 (2018) in India soon. The new Galaxy On8 will only be sold online exclusively on Flipkart and apparently sports similar specifications as the Galaxy J8 in certain segments. The smartphone will be the second Samsung smartphone after Galaxy On6 (2018) to be sold only through an online retailer. The Galaxy On6 (2018) retails on Flipkart for Rs 14,490.

A report published by Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) quotes sources as saying that an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will be powering the Galaxy On8 (2018). As mentioned earlier, the device will be sporting somewhat similar specifications as the Galaxy J8 which means that the On8 might run on the Snapdragon 450 processor. The report added that the smartphone will sport a 6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED screen and a dual camera setup at the rear of the device. It is also rumoured that the handset may feature a 4GB RAM coupled with a 64GB on-board storage according to the report.

The mid-range smartphone is expected to be sold somewhere around Rs 18,000 which is Rs 1,000 cheaper than the Galaxy J8, currently retailing at Rs 19,000. The report also added that Samsung may reveal the pricing details of Galaxy On8 (2018) soon. Going by the expected price of Galaxy On8 (2018), the smartphone will be competing against the likes of other mid-range smartphones, such as Nokia 6.1, Oppo F7, Vivo V9, and Redmi Note 5 Pro.

The South Korean tech giant recently introduced a couple of mid-range smartphones, such as Galaxy J6, Galaxy J8, and Galaxy On6. Samsung claims to have sold at least 50,000 units of Galaxy J8 and Galaxy J6 every day with a combined sale of more than 20 lakh units of both the smartphones in India until July 2018.
