Xiaomi Launched the Phablet Mi Max 3 in China: Price, Specifications

Xiaomi introduced its phablet series, Mi Max, back in 2016 with a big display of 6.44-inch. After two years Xiaomi has launched the third member of the Mi Max family, namely Mi Max 3. The Mi Max 3 flaunts a bigger display and a bigger battery than its predecessors, all thanks to the trend of 18:9 aspect ratio. The device was launched in China on July 19 at a starting price of CNY 1,699.

Launched back in 2014, Xiaomi is one of those tech giants who have always provided a better but a budget device to the consumers, which is the reason that it has become the most trusted smartphone manufacturer from China. The Mi Max series was introduced to compete with the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Note series. Xiaomi offered bigger RAM, storage, display and battery all-in-one package at a pocket-friendly price which garnered great response from the Mi fans. The Mi Max 3 is another phablet that comes at a budget and might soon be made available in India, given that Mi Max and Mi Max 2 were launched in the country at the time they were globally released.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Specifications

Mi Max 3 sports a huge display of 6.9-inch with unknown glass protection. The screen is an IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio giving it a pixel density of 350 pixels per inch (ppi). Mi Max 3 performs on a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor chipset coupled with Adreno 509 GPU for graphics and gaming sections. The phablet is available in two storage options – 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM and 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM variants. The internal storage is expandable upto 256GB via a microSD card. Mi Max 3 is the first device in the Mi Max series to host dual rear-facing camera setup having a primary sensor of 12MP with f/1.9 aperture and a secondary 5MP depth sensor. At the front, is an 8MP sensor of f/2.0 aperture for selfies with AI support for portraits and beauty modes. The front-facing camera also supports facial recognition for unlocking Mi Max 3. The rear cameras are capable of shooting 4K/1080p/720p videos at 30 fps with gyro-EIS video stabilization, and 720p slow motion videos at 120 fps. The phablet runs Xiaomi’s custom skin MIUI 9.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and packs a bigger 5500 mAh Li-Ion battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Connectivity options on the Mi Max 3 includes the basic Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, hybrid dual-Nano SIM support and USB Type-C, just like the Mi Max 2. The rear of the phablet is completely made out of aluminium metal and houses a fingerprint reader.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Price

Mi Max 3 is launched in China at CNY 1,699 (approximately Rs 17,300) for 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant and CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs 20,300) for 6GB RAM + 128GB RAM variant. The big-screen device will be available in Meteorite Black and Dream Gold color options.
