Xiaomi has a history of rebranding its Chinese Redmi and Mi models when launching them in India. The Mi 5X was launched as Android One-powered Mi A1 in India back in September 2017 and recently the Redmi S2 was launched as Redmi Y2 in India. It is expected that Xiaomi might launch the Mi A2 and a smaller Mi A2 Lite at a global event in Madrid, Spain on July 24. Mi A1 was highly successful in India and the Mi Fans are eagerly waiting for its successor, Mi A2.

Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite Specifications

Mi A2 will retail as a rebranded Mi 6X, as it is sold in China. It will be seen sporting a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 2160 x 1080 resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It will come powered with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC with Adreno 512 GPU for graphics rendering. Housing the traditional dual rear-camera setup, Mi A2 will come coupled with a 12MP sensor and a 20MP sensor for depth-sensing. The Android One-based phone will be running on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. A 3010 mAh or a 3080 mAh battery will be providing juice to the device for a decent standby. Like its predecessor Mi A1, the A2 will be sporting a USB Type-C port for fast charging, but will be dropping the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Another device that is expected to debut at the global launch event is the Mi A2 Lite, the rebranded Redmi 6 Pro.
