After too many rumours and renders, Xiaomi finally launched it’s much awaited Redmi Y2 in India on Thursday 7th June, Which is the successor of Redmi Y1. If we look at the specs, Xiaomi did some significant changes from its predecessor. Some key highlighted features are 18:9 screen ratio, a vertical dual 13MP+5MP camera setup, Qc’s Snapdragon 625 and many more.
Xiaomi launched their Redmi S2 in China last month, As they have Y series smartphones in India, not the S series. So, we have Y2 instead of S2.For a recall, Xiaomi launches their selfie oriented devices under Y series.

Xiaomi Redmi Y2 Price and Availability in India
Xiaomi redmi Y2 offers two variants 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB priced at Rs.9999 and Rs.12999 respectively. The device will be available in Dark grey, gold and rose gold model. Xiaomi exclusively partnered with Amazon India for online sales.
Y2 will be made available from 12th June on Amazon.in,Mi.com and Mi stores.
Redmi Y2 Specifications
The selfie centred device runs on miui 9.5 customised on Android 8.1 oreo and features a dual sim with a dedicated SD card slot.
A 720p HD+ resolution supported by Adreno 506 for visually rich experience and all of these specs powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SOC, which is an Octa-Core chipset made on the 14nm process for low power consumption.
The device sports a 12+5MP dual camera setup at the back which has an aperture of f/2.2 and couple with various features like A.I portrait mode, HDR etc. At the front 16MP sensor coupled with A.I technology able to capture crisp selfies. Xiaomi claims their A.I powered image sensor can improve various aspects of images. The fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature enhances the security of this device.
A 3080 mAh lithium-ion battery capable of providing a full day juice on a single charge.
There are various connectivity options available with the device like 4G, Wifi 802.11b/g/n, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB 2.0.
The additional sensor like Gyroscope, a compass sensor, infrared and proximity sensors are available in this device.
