Amidst leaks and rumours, many smartphones come into existence, the most of which are only limited to concepts and renders. But these futuristic renders, somehow, give us a sneak peek to how smartphones would look like in the near future. Remember the concept images that showed smartphones with complete screens? Well, Oppo went on to achieve the full screen displays by placing the cameras and sensors in the motorised mechanism on the Oppo Find X.

The Chinese conglomerate, Oppo, was launched in 2004, and has expanded to most of the parts of the world since then. The company became the largest smartphone manufacturer in China, with more than 2,00,000 retail outlets in the country. The selfie expert and leader, Oppo, is ranked as the number 4 smartphone brand globally since 2016. In India, Oppo went on to bid for the sponsorship of the Indian National Cricket Team, which they won in 2017. Since then, Oppo displays their logo on Indian cricket team’s jerseys and kits, which will continue up to 2022, as per the agreement.

Oppo has been going the premium way, to attract audiences from all over the world. While the company introduced a new technology in a way to hide the cameras and other sensors, Oppo has now launched a budget-oriented device, named Oppo A5, in India on August 24. The A5 was rumoured to be similar in specs as of the Realme 2, which is still in its leak stage but is expected to launch soon.

Oppo A5 flaunts a 6.2-inch HD+ FullView display with 19:9 aspect ratio, a 2.5D curved glass screen protection. Powering up the device, is a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The smartphone comes with a dual rear camera setup with a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor, and an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies, with AI-backed Beauty Technology 2.0. The memory segment on the Oppo A5 is handled by a 4GB RAM and 32GB of in-built storage, further expandable via a microSD card of up to 256GB capacity. The smartphone packs a 4,230 mAh battery, which is touted to deliver 11 hours of continuous gaming or 14 hours of video playback on a single charge.

The Oppo A5 will be available in Blue and Red colour options, through online and offline retailers from August 25, at Rs 14,990 in India.

As the newly-separated Realme is planning to launch its second smartphone in India, it will definitely be worth noticing how it fares against its parent organisation, Oppo’s new A5 or other smartphones in the budget range, including Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Samsung Galaxy On8 and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.
