Samsung Galaxy On8 (2018) has finally arrived in India on August 1 after many renders and leaks. Launched at a price of Rs 16,990, the smartphone is a successor to the Galaxy On8 that was released back in 2016. Samsung’s new Galaxy On8 (2018) sports an Infinity Display panel, a dual rear camera setup and AI-based image capturing feature. The AI image enhancement features include Live Focus, Background Blur Shape, Portrait Dolly and Portrait Backdrop to improve image capturing experience. A preloaded Chat Over Video feature by Samsung allows to chat while watching a video on the Galaxy On8 (2018).

Samsung Galaxy On8 (2018) flaunts a 6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with a resolution of 720 x 1480 pixels and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone houses an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, under the hood, to handle the performance department. The Galaxy On8 (2018) runs on Samsung Experience UX on top of Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage that can accept a microSD card of up to 256GB for storage expansion. The vertically stacked dual rear camera setup on the Galaxy On8 (2018) includes a primary sensor of 16MP with an aperture of f/1.7 and a secondary 5MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture. An LED flash sits beside the dual camera setup at the rear. At the front, a 16MP selfie shooter sits with an aperture of f/1.9.

The Galaxy On8 (2018) houses a 3500mAh battery that provides enough juice to the device to last a day. Connectivity options on the smartphone include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G VoLTE, microUSB and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The dual cameras support portrait modes with Samsung’s AI-based features like Portrait Dolly, Portrait Backdrop and Background Blur Shape. The Portrait Dolly allows the user to shoot moving GIF images with background zoom movements which create a cinematic experience. The Portrait Backdrop feature enables users to choose and add from some preloaded background effects within the camera app. Lastly, the Background Blur Shape feature is used to add a shaped soft illuminating effect on the pictures to brighten them up.

Samsung Galaxy On8 (2018) Price and Availability

Starting August 6, Samsung Galaxy On8 (2018) will bear a price tag of Rs 16,990 in India and will be sold exclusively via Flipkart and Samsung’s own online store. The On8 (2018) will be available in two colour options – Black and Blue. The smartphone will be up for online retail along with a bunch of launch offers such as No-cost EMI options and mobile data schemes.

Samsung has launched the new Galaxy On8 (2018) soon after the price of the Galaxy J7 Duo was slashed by the company. Launched back in April, the Galaxy J7 Duo is now available at a slashed price of Rs 13,990 instead of its launch price of Rs 16,990.
