Xiaomi launched it’s flagship Mi 8 series last month in China, which includes Mi 8, Mi 8i and Mi 8 Explorer Edition. But it seems, the Beijing-based tech giant has something special to unveil, and as per the reports published on XDA forum, the device could be exclusively for INDIA.

However, Xiaomi only had four devices listed for the Snapdragon 845 processor i.e Mi 8,Mi 8 Explorer, Mi Mix 2S and Black Shark gaming phone, but a device codenamed “Beryllium” is in pending mode with SD 845 processor in its core.

As per the XDA reports, the firmware made for Mi 8 in last month, contains a code segment called AutyFilter() { (“India”, Systemproperty)}. That indicates the Indian variant of Mi 8 could launch soon.

Expected Specifications of “Beryllium”

As per the XDA source following specification are found within the firmware.

Processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
Display LCD with notch; 18:9 aspect ratio
Battery 4,000 mAh
Operating System Android 8.1 Oreo
Fingerprint Yes, but not under-display
Camera Dual cameras; Optical zoom support

The report suggest that various code segments in the firmware specifically point towards India.

Xiaomi POCOPHONE

Another report from slashleaks suggest that the device could be the new sub-brand from Xiaomi named ”Pocophone”. According to the slashleaks, the device is spotted on FCC and the model number could be  “M1805E10A” for the first Pocophone, but according to Gizmochina the documents submitted by xiaomi to the FCC is “M1805D1SG”.

Nothing is confirmed till now, but xiaomi is definitely working on some interesting projects.
